Pirelli World Challenge: Mixed first practice session for Audi teams at COTA

Pirelli World Challenge action has started at the Circuit of the Americas with the opening free practice session.

A total of six Audi R8 LMS ultra cars took part in an interrupted session (for 15 minutes). The Audi Sport customer racing squad faced a hard first session. A single Audi entry made into the Top 10.

Madison Snow was the best Audi driver in the session. Driving the GMG Racing-run #21 Audi R8 LMS ultra, Madison Snow was ninth fastest with a best time of 2:07.147.


James Sofronas, one of GMG Racing's owners, was thirteenth fastest. The 2013 Pirelli World Challenge runner-up set a time of 2:07.517 with his #14 Audi R8 LMS ultra

Mike Skeen driving the #2 Audi R8 LMS ultra was eighteenth fastest. The CRP Racing driver with a time of 2:08.477.

All three remaining Audi R8 LMS ultra entries were further behind. Jeff Courtney driving the #99 Audi was twenty-sixth. Alex Welch with his #76 R8 LMS ultra was thirty-second and Drew Regitz with the #19 machine was thirty-third.


Up ahead Frank Montecalvo, driving the #66 Mercedes Benz AMG SLS GT3, was the fastest overall. Olivier Beretta with the #61 Ferrari 458 GT3 was second. Kevin Estre was third driving the #9 McLaren 650S GT3.
