Super Taikyu: Audi R8 LMS ultra again part of Direction Racing’s 2015 arsenal

Direction Racing, jointly run with the K's Frontier team, will be returning to the 2015 motorsport season with four GT3 race cars, including an Audi R8 LMS ultra. The team has not announced any of its plans as of yet, but race programs in the Super GT GT300 class, Super Taikyu and GT Asia Series are on the cards. Their arsenal of four GT3 cars, which includes Audi, Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren, could be seen in any of these series.

The Japanese Audi Sport customer racing team fielded their #32 Audi R8 LMS ultra in the Super Taikyu Endurance Series during 2014.


It was the team’s first full season of competition with their Audi R8 LMS ultra this year. This specific car was the chassis used by the GAINER team who competed with it in the 2012 Super GT season. K's Frontier then acquired the car and competed at selected rounds of the 2013 Japanese ETCC series (European Touring Car Challenge), before upgrading the vehicle to 2013 specification and competing in the 2014 Super Taikyu, running under the Direction Racing banner.


It is certainly very exciting news that the Audi R8 LMS ultra is again part of Direction Racing’s arsenal for 2015.

Super Taikyu: Unlucky end of season for Direction Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra at Autopolis

The Japanese Super Taikyu Endurance Series hosted its sixth and final round of 2014 at Autopolis in Japan this weekend.

Direction Racing (K's Frontier), who has been a full season entrant in the Super Taikyu, entered their #32 Audi R8 LMS ultra. The driving trio of Takashi Kobayashi, Arte Rossi and Daisuke Yamawaki were behind the wheel of the team’s Audi GT3 machine.

Qualifying saw the Japanese drivers qualifying fourth on the grid. The three hour race on Sunday concluded with an unfortunate retirement for the Direction Racing squad after forty-eight laps of the race.

This event concluded the 2014 Super Taikyu season.

Super Taikyu: Bad luck for Direction Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra at Suzuka

The Japanese Super Taikyu Endurance Series hosted round five at Suzuka this weekend. Direction Racing (K's Frontier) took part in the 140 minute race with their Audi R8 LMS ultra.

The #32 Audi R8 LMS ultra was driven by Taiyou Iida, Shinichi Takagi and Takashi Kobayashi.


The trio qualified fourth, but unfortunately retired from the race on lap two.

Autopolis will be hosting the sixth and final round of the 2014 Super Taikyu. It will be a three-hour event hosted from 8-9 November.

Super Taikyu: Direction Racing / K's Frontier Audi R8 LMS ultra at the official test day

 The Super Taikyu held its official test day at Twin Ring Motegi in Japan on Sunday this past weekend. The entry list included thirty-four cars, including two ST-X (GT3) machines. K's Frontier was among the entries with their Audi R8 LMS ultra.

Super Taikyu: 2004 Le Mans winner Seiji Ara tests Audi R8 LMS ultra at Twin Ring Motegi

 Nova Engineering took part in a test session at Twin Ring Motegi today. The test forms part of the team's preparation for round three of the Japanese Super Taikyu Endurance Championship. The big news was the addition of 2004 Le Mans winner, Seiji Ara.
