Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona hosted the inaugural round of the brand new GT Sports Club series. A new GT3 championship created by Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) and exclusively open to Bronze rated drivers.
One Audi R8 LMS ultra from Belgian team WRT took part in the event. Belgian driver Jean-Michel Baert was behid the wheel of the #12 car.
Race format is nearly identical to Blancpain Sprint Series, with a qualifying race on Saturday and main race on Sunday.
Jean-Michel Baert qualified his Audi R8 LMS ultra in tenth place. He finished the qualifying race in postion twelve, a lap behind the race winning car.
In the main race Jean-Michel Baert was able to improve. He passed several rivals to end in a fine sixth place overall at the end of the 22-lap event.
The GT Sports Club will be back in June the Paul Ricard Circuit. The Series will support the Blancpain Endurance Series 6-hour event.
