GT Sports Club: Three Audi R8 LMS ultras in Paul Ricard round two

The Paul Ricard Circuit in southern France will play host to the second round of GT Sports Club this weekend supporting the Blancpain Endurance Series. Three Audi R8 LMS ultra cars will enter the event.

The Belgians from W Racing Team (WRT) will fied the #12 Audi R8 LMS ultra for Jean-Michel Baert. Sainteloc Racing will have two cars, the #36 Audi will be driven by Michael Blanchemain, his team-mate Marc Sourd will be behind the wheel of the sister #37 R8 LMS ultra.

A total of 21 GT3 race cars will compete in the French round. The Audi drivers will be challenged by competitors representing Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

The GT Sports Club is a new series from SRO Motorsports Group and exclusively open to bronze rated drivers.

GT Sports Club: An Audi R8 LMS ultra took part in the inaugural event at Barcelona

Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona hosted the inaugural round of the brand new GT Sports Club series. A new GT3 championship created by Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) and exclusively open to Bronze rated drivers.

One Audi R8 LMS ultra from Belgian team WRT took part in the event. Belgian driver Jean-Michel Baert was behid the wheel of the #12 car.

Race format is nearly identical to Blancpain Sprint Series, with a qualifying race on Saturday and main race on Sunday.


Jean-Michel Baert qualified his Audi R8 LMS ultra in tenth place. He finished the qualifying race in postion twelve, a lap behind the race winning car.

In the main race Jean-Michel Baert was able to improve. He passed several rivals to end in a fine sixth place overall at the end of the 22-lap event.

The GT Sports Club will be back in June the Paul Ricard Circuit. The Series will support the Blancpain Endurance Series 6-hour event.
