Full quattro domination in Britain. A perfect weekend for the Audi RS5 at Donington Park for round 3 of the Superstars Series. Gianni Morbidelli and Johan Kristoffersson were the "Superstars" of the two races.
The Audi RS5 dominated last time out at Imola and the same happened this weekend in the British round. Gianni Morbidelli, the two times Superstars Series champion was the strongest all weekend long. The Audi Sport Italia ace was the fastest in the free practice sessions and he won pole position with his #45 Audi RS5. To complete his weekend domination Morbidelli won the two races and finished ahead of Johan Kristoffersson making it a double 1-2 finish. Kristoffersson skipped the qualifying session yesterday as he was busy in Sweden racing in the STCC. Starting last was a real challenge for the young Swedish driver of the #46 Audi. Despite starting last he was able to complete a phenomenal race 1 and finish in a very strong second place behind Gianni Morbidelli. With these great performances in Britain Kristoffersson is still leading the overall drivers standing. The third Audi RS5 is the #47 of Thomas Schoffler. The MTM Motorsport driver qualified in a very strong second position. In race 1 he finished in sixth and in race 2 he didn't finish.
Overall it was a storming weekend for Audi at Donington Park. The Audi RS5 quattro is clearly the best car in the 2012 field. The next round of the Superstars Series will be at the Mugello circuit on June 2nd and 3rd. Once again the three Audi teams and drivers will be among the big favorites for race wins.
