Bördesprint Cup: Audi R8 LMS ultra cars testing at Oschersleben Tourenwagentesttage

Oschersleben hosted touring car test days last weekend (Arena Tourenwagentesttage). Two Audi R8 LMS ultra cars took part, both run by Rotary Motorsport IG.

The team and both of its Audi R8 LMS ultra cars have been seen before in the ADAC Bördesprint Cup. The silver and red Audi R8 LMS ultra is the car of Berthold Gruhn, a regular competitor in the ADAC Bördesprint Cup and the Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy. The team's second car, the ex-Prosperia C.ABT Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra, is driven by Andreas Schmidt, who debuted the car at the final round of the 2014 ADAC Bördesprint Cup season.

The day's proceedings unfortunately witnessed a crash for the Schmidt Audi R8 LMS ultra on the front straight. The driver was luckily unharmed, but the car did sustain frontal damage (Video below).

The opening round of the ADAC Bördesprint Cup will be taking place at Oschersleben this upcoming weekend, 28 March.

Bördesprint Cup: Unlucky season finale for Andreas Schmidt Audi R8 LMS ultra at Oschersleben

The ADAC Bördesprint Cup held its season finale at Oschersleben this weekend. One Audi Sport customer racing team took part in the event.

Rotary Motorsport IG entered the #63 Audi R8 LMS ultra driven by Andreas Schmidt. The car is one of the ex-Prosperia C.ABT Racing cars that was seen in the ADAC GT Masters this year with the #12 car livery (pictured).

This is the same team that entered the silver and red Audi R8 LMS ultra that was driven by Berthold Gruhn in the 2014 Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy and selected rounds of the 2014 ADAC Bördesprint Cup.

Andreas Schmidt qualified third for the weekend’s first race. He suffered issues in race one and finished seventeenth, sixth in class. Unfortunately the #63 Audi R8 LMS ultra did not take part in race two.

Bördesprint Cup: Podium results for Berthold Gruhn Audi R8 LMS ultra at Oschersleben

The Bördesprint Cup held its penultimate round at Oschersleben this weekend.

Berthold Gruhn and his Rotary Motorsport IG run Audi R8 LMS ultra took part in the event, entered in Class 23.

He qualified fifth and tenth overall for the weekend’s two races, taking third and fourth in class on the grid respectively.

The first race saw Gruhn moving up to third place overall and in class. He went one better in the second race of the day by taking second in class, again finishing third overall. Two well-deserved overall podium results for the team.

The eighth and final round of the 2014 Bördesprint Cup will be taking place at Oschersleben on 15 November.

STT: Victory for Edy Kamm A4 DTM and bad luck for R8 LMS ultra at Nürburgring

The Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy (STT) held its seventh and final round at the Nürburgring this weekend. A total of four Audi race cars took part.

Edy Kamm highlighted the weekend by taking victory in race two behind the wheel of his 2004 Audi A4 DTM R11. He finished third in race one.

Berthold Gruhn, in the #16 Audi R8 LMS ultra run by Rotary Motorsport IG, finished second in Class 2 at the last round, also held at the Nürburgring at the beginning of October, but he faced a difficult weekend this time. Race one saw him finishing twenty-ninth, one lap down and he retired from race two.

An Audi 80 and an Audi S4 also took part this weekend. An Audi A6 (C5) bodied V8 Star race car was also among the entries.
