A wet Norisring track hosted a very fought and emotional qualifying session. Championship points leader Jamie Green qualified in a very strong third place.
The King of the Norisring was impressive in the 20-minute race 1's qualifying. The Audi Sport Team Rosberg set a personal best of 50.687. Jamie Green was behind two Mercedes-Benz drivers, Christian Vietoris who took pole position and Gary Paffett who was second.
Miguel Molina was ninth fastest behind the wheel of the all red #17 Audi RS 5 DTM. The Audi Sport Team Abt Sporsline driver set a personal best of 51.069.
Unfortunetally all of the other Audi factory drivers were further behind. Edoardo Mortara (Audi Sport Team Abt) was sixteenth. Nico Mueller (Audi Sport Team Rosberg) was ninteenth. Mattias Ekstrom (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline) was twenty-first. Mike Rockenfeller (Audi Sport Team Phoenix) was twenty-second. Adrien Taùbay (Audi Sport Team Abt) was twenty-third and Timo Scheider (Audi Sport Team Phoenix) was twenty fourth.
