A true Audi assault at the Paul Ricard this upcoming weekend. The French circuit will be hosting the third round of the 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series, a special 6-hour event. No less than eleven Audis will enter the race including two brand new R8 LMS cars.
The two new Audi R8 LMS cars will be factory supported at the Paul Ricard, they will be fielded by two different teams, Audi Sport Team WRT and Phoenix Racing. The two squads will try to give the new car another race win after the outright victory at the Nurburgring 24 Hours.
The #1 Audi R8 LMS will have a stellar line-up, the car run by Audi Sport Team WRT will be driven by Laurens Vanthoor, Mike Rockenfeller and René Rast. The #5 Audi R8 LMS from Phoenix Racing will be shared by three fast drivers, Christopher Hasse, Christopher Mies and Marcel Fassler. Both cars will compete in the upper Pro-Cup class.
Nine Audi R8 LMS ultra will be fielded at the Paul Ricard. Belgian Audi Club Team WRT will have three cars. ISR Racing from the Czech Republic and Sainteloc Racing from France will field two cars. Phoenix Racing and Team Parker Racing will be a with a single car effort each.
As always in the Blancpain Endurane Series, the Audi Sport customer racing squad will face strong teams representing various brand in all of the series three classes, Pro-Cup, Pro-Am and Am-Cup.
The Paul Ricard round will be the final race in the Blancpain Endurance Series before the prestigious Spa 24 Hours.
Action will start on Friday with the free practice session and pre-qualifying. The qualifying session will be held and the 6-hour race will be held on Saturday.
