FIA WEC: Audi ahead in a wet third practice session at Silverstone

A wet Silverstone circuit hosted the third practice session this morning. As was the case yesterday in the opening two sessions, Audi was the fastest.

André Lotterer, Benoit Tréluyer and Marcel Fassler who lead yesterday's FP2 lead the fied once again in FP3. Driving their #7 Audi R18 e-tron quattro they set the fastest time in the session with 1:52.094.

Second place went to Toyota Racing with the #1 TS040 Hybrid of Anthony Davidson, Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima. The #18 Porsche driven by Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb was third fastest. Their team-mates at Porsche Team Timo Bernhard, Mark Webber and Brendon Hartley were fourth with the #17 919 Hybrid. Fifth place went to the #2 Toyota TS040 of Alexander Wurz, Stéphane Sarrazin and Mike Conway.

The second car from Audi Sport Team Joest concluded the session in sixth place overall. The #8 R18 e-tron quattro with drivers Loic Duval, Lucas di Grassi and Oliver Jarvis set a time of 1:57.687.


In the other classes, G-Drive Racing dominated once again in LMP2 with the #28 Ligier JS P2 - Nissan, Porsche Team Manthey was the fastest in GTE-Pro with the #92 Porsche 991 RSR and AF Corse lead the GTE-Am with #83 Ferrari 458 GTC.
