Exciting news coming from Phoenix Racing, the team will enter the complete 2015 Blancpain GT Series. The German team who recently confirmed an Audi R8 LMS ultra in the Blancpain Endurance Series will also take part in the Blancpain Sprint Series.
The Nürburgring based squad will field an Audi R8 LMS ultra in the SRO organized series. The car will be driven by Audi GT factory driver Markus Winkelhock and Niki Mayr-Melnhof.
In 2014 Markus Winkelhock and Niki Mayr-Melnhof were team-mates at Phoenix Racing in the Blancpain Sprint Series. Sharing the #6 Audi R8 LMS ultra, they have some ups and downs all season long but concluded the year very well in the demanding Baku World Challenge finale.
Team manager Ernst Moser is delighted for this Blancpain Sprint Series effort:
"We’re going to be on the grid in the sprint series with our proven driver pairing again. Niki Mayr-Melnhof and Markus Winkelhock, aiming for top spots in the championship, are set on picking up where they left off with their podium position in last year’s final race at Baku." (quotes taken from Phoenix Racing official Press Release).
The 2015 Blancpain Sprint Series season will start at Nogaro, France from 4-6 April with the traditional Coupes de Paques.
