TSS: Unlucky weekend for B-Quik Racing Audi R8 LMS in Buriram

By Johan Laubscher

The penultimate round of the Thailand Super Series was held at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram this weekend.

B-Quik Racing was out in force and fielded the #26 Audi R8 LMS of Henk Kiks in the Class 2 - GTM class. The team arrived on a high note after claiming a GTC class podium finish at the Sepang 12 Hours in August.

Kiks qualified eighth in the GTM class, fourteenth overall.

Despite terrific speed and pace, both of the races unfortunately concluded with Henk Kiks appearing on the list of competitors not classified at the finish.

Races one and two saw Kiks as the fastest car out on track. The first race unfortunately ended for the Audi whilst Kiks was battling for the lead on the last lap. Kiks went for the pass, but the race leader made contact with Kiks on the slippery track and Kiks unfortunately retired from the race in the gravel off track. The second and final race of the weekend again saw the yellow Audi R8 LMS racing through the field. He took the lead of the race, but tragically the car developed a gearshift problem and it ultimately resulted in the second non-finish of the weekend.

It may have been an unlucky weekend for the team, but they showed great pace and promising speed with their new Audi R8 LMS.

The final round of the TSS will be taking place at the Bangsaen street circuit from 10-14 December.
