Blancpain Sprint Series: 1-2 WRT Audi in Baku World Challenge qualifying

A storming Blancpain Sprint Series qualifying session for the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT in Baku. The Belgian Audi Sport customer racing scored a fine pole position and locked the front row of the gird.

Pole position went to the #9 Audi R8 LMS ultra driven by Stéphane Ortelli and Stéphane Richelmi. The two drivers from Monaco set the fastest time in the session with a quick 1.30.033.

Their team-mates Laurens Vanthoor and Cesar Ramos will start the 1-hour qualifying race from second place. The drivers of the #2 Audi R8 LMS ultra were just 0,38s behind the leading Audi.


The single Audi R8 LMS ultra from Prosperia C.Abt Racing made it into the Top 10. The #777 car shared by Christopher Mies and the new ADAC GT Masters champion Kelvin van der Linde qualified in a strong seventh pace first time out in the Blancpain Sprint Series.

Best of the Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra cars was the #6 machine. The car driven byNiki Mayr-Melnhof and Markus Winkelhock qualified in twelfth place.

The two final races of the 2014 Blancpain Sprint Series will be held tomorrow.
