Spa 24 Hours: Leo Machitski for Spa 24 Hours Audi drive

Leo Machitski Press Release

Team Russia By Barwell driver, Leo Machitski, has agreed a one-off deal to join the Team Parker Racing (TPR) entry for this year’s Spa 24 Hours event. Leo will swap the Barwell Motorsport-run BMW Z4 GT3 that he normally races in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) for TPR’s Audi R8 LMS Ultra, as he strives to help them win the Gentleman Trophy class at the Belgian classic, which is part of the Blancpain Endurance Championship.

Leo will join Ian Loggie, Carl Rosenblad and Julian Westwood in the Audi, as part of what will form a very strong driver line up in the Gentleman Trophy. Leo was introduced to the available Spa seat at TPR by Barwell Motorsport, the two teams having known each other and raced against each other in British motorsport for many years.

Machitski won the 2006 British GT3 Championship title aboard a Barwell Motorsport Aston Martin DBRS9, before finishing third in GT2 in the 2007 Spa 24 Hours in a Tech 9 Motorsport Porsche RSR which he shared with Sascha Maassen and the late Sean Edwards. Leo’s extensive experience and strong pace will be a major asset to TPR in their quest for Spa success.

After Spa, Machitski will return to his regular ELMS duties in the Team Russia By Barwell BMW Z4, contesting the last two rounds of the championship at Paul Ricard (September 14th) and Estoril (October 19th).

Stuart Parker, Team Parker Racing Team Principal: “We are very happy to have the opportunity to work with Leo, and are grateful to Team Russia By Barwell for their help in making this happen.”
