BES: 10 Audi R8 LMS ultra cars at the Spa 24 Hours

By Tarek Ramchani

A full field of Audi R8 LMS ultra cars is expected at the Spa 24 Hours. The Belgian endurance classic will see no less than 10 Audi R8 LMS ultra entrieswith a target, taking a third overall win after a disappointing 2013 race.

The Audi Sport customer racing squad will be represented in all three classes at the stellar event of the Blancpain Endurance Series. Six cars will enter the upper Pro-Cup class, one in the Pro-Am class and three in the Gentlemen Trophy class. It's interesting to note that at the moment there are no Audis from Phoenix Racing. The German team has been a regular with the Audi R8 LMS in Spa 24 since 2009.

Leading the Audi squad in the Ardennes are local heros from Belgian Audi Club Team WRT. The Vincent Vosse managed team is fielding four Audis, three in the upper Pro-Cup with very strong driver line-ups including two times Le Mans winners and 2012 FIA WEC champions Lotterer-Tréluyer-Fässler. The fourth WRT entry will enter the Gentlemen Trophy.

Sainteloc Racing will have two cars, one in Pro-Cup class and the other in Gentlemen Trophy. The others Audi teams are Brother Racing Team (Pro-Cup), team ISR (Pro-Cup), United Autosports (Pro-Am) and Team Parker Racing (Gentlemen Trophy) with a single R8 LMS ultra effort each.
