Pirelli World Challenge: Six Audi R8 LMS ultra ready for Detroit

A full field of Audi R8 LMS ultra cars is heading to Detroit this upcoming weekend.The Motor City is hosting the fourth meeting of the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge season.

A total of six Audi R8 LMS ultra cars will take part in the event coming from two different teams, GMG Racing and CRP Racing.

GMG Racing will field no less than five Audi R8 LMS ultra cars, two in the upper GT class and three in the GT-A class. Last time winner and best ranked Audi driver in the overall standing, Andrew Palmer will drive the #21 R8 LMS ultra (GT). Team owner and driver James Sofronas will be in the hands of the #14 Audi (GT).


Bret Curtis (#32 Audi), Brent Holden (#44 Audi) and Bill Ziegler (#95 Audi) are all competing in the GT-A class open for gentlemen drivers.

The sixth Audi R8 LMS entry is from CRP Racing. Mike Skeen will drive the black #2 Audi R8 LMS ultra within the GT class. This is will be the third meeting for Mike Skeen with the Audi GT3 racer after debuting with the car at Long Beach and racing later at Barber Motorsport Park.

The Audi Sport customer racing will have to fight hard at Detroit against strong rivals from Cadillac, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and McLaren teams and drivers.
