After a very hard race 1 at Imola, Audi Sport Italia was eager to do better in race 2. However, it was a kind of deja vu for the Audi Italia official team during the second race.
Only one Audi finished the second race. The #4 Audi R8 LMS ultra, driven by Dindo Capello and Andrea Sonvico, ended in fifth place. The two drivers finished over 50 seconds behind the winning car. Bad luck for the sister #5 Audi R8 LMS ultra. Johan Kristoffersson and Alex Frassineti did not take part in the second race. That ended a very unlucky Sunday for Audi Sport Italia, after promising performances in the two qualifying sessions yesterday.
Race victory went to BMW's female driver, Michela Cerruti, with the works #2 BMW Z4 GT3 from ROAL Motorsport. Second place went to the #46 Ferrari 458 GT3 from Black Bull Swisse Racing. Third was the #44 Porsche 997 GT3 R from Ebimotors.
The Italian GT Championship will resume at Vallelunga in two weeks time.
