FIA WEC: Audi ahead of Toyota in São Paulo third practice session

By Tarek Ramchani

The third free practice session at São Paulo just ended. Audi Sport Team Joest were again ahead of their arch rivals from Toyota Racing.

It was a very action packed session. The #1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro was the fastest in the session. The car shared by André Lotterer, Benoit Tréluyer and Marcel Fassler with a fastest time of 1:21.292. It was André Lotterer who set this time, during the last moments of the session. In second was the works Toyota TS030 Hybrid shared by Anthony Davidson, Sébastien Buemi and Stéphane Sarrazin. Anthony Davidson split the two Audis with a time of 1:21.452. The Audi #1, which lead most of the session with Allan McNish, Loic Duval and Tom Kristensen, ended in third place. Fourth was the privateer Lola Coupé Toyota from Rebellion Racing, the Swiss car driven by Nicolas Prost, Nick Heidfeld and Mathias Beche.

The qualifying session is next at Interlagos Circuit. We expect a fierce battle for pole position between Audi and Toyota, and even within the Audi squad.
