Le Mans: Tom Kristensen welcoming Porsche return at La Sarthe

By Tarek Ramchani

It has been known for some time that Porsche will be back at Le Mans with a full factory effort. This week the Stuttgart brand unveiled their 2014 LMP1 challenger to the world.

Porsche's return to the highest level of competition in sportscar racing makes Mr Le Mans Tom Kristensen very excited. The Danish Audi Sport factory driver, and eight-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner, is looking forward to the new challenge.

Recently Tom Kristensen spoke to Autosport.com:

"Porsche coming back is wonderful. Le Mans has to be as strong as possible and [VW Group chairman] Ferdinand Piech loves family fights! We know [Porsche LMP1 drivers] Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas from when they were at Audi and now we have seen a little more. Porsche are the most successful marque at Le Mans. That's what they are coming back to defend and hopefully we will see them in the world championship too. We look forward to that." (quotes sourced from autosport.com)
