An amazing job by Audi driver Mattias Ekström, a great pole position in a very wet second qualifying session in Spielberg. An all Audi RS 5 DTM front row.
The double DTM champion will start from pole position in the second race of the weekend. Eki set the best time of the session with 1:42.010. A stunning performance by the Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline driver given the very difficult track conditions.
Another Audi driver who performed very well is Mike Rockenfeller (Audi Sport Team Phoenix). Rocky qualified in a strong second place overall setting a personal best time of 1:42.015.
Yesterday race 1 winner Edoardo Mortara (Audi Sport Team Abt) was sixth fastest. Timo Scheider (Audi Sport Team Phoenix) was seventh. Adrien Tambay (Audi Sport Team Abt) was tenth.
The other Audi drivers were outside the top-ten. Nico Mueller (Audi Sport Team Rosberg) was eleventh. Jamie Green (Audi Sport Team Rosberg) was seventeenth. Miguel Molina (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline) was ninteenth.
The DTM race 2 will be held this afternoon
