Audi will take part to its seventeenth Le Mans 24 Hours this upcoming weekend. The Ingolstadt brand will field three factory Audi R18 e-tron quattro with a target, a fourteenth overall victory in the French classic.
Dr Wolfgang Ullrich was at Place de la République yesterday for the traditional scrutineering and had a chat with our friends at Endurance-Info.
The head of Audi Motorsport is looking forward to a great race this year: "The 2015 race will be the hardest for Audi at Le Mans. Excluding our debut in 1999, each time we used the numbers #7, #8 and #9 here we won"
Dr Wolfgang Ullrich gave his thoughts about FIA WEC following recents rumors about a possible move to Formula One: "The FIA World Endurance Championship is working very well now. If things stay as they are now and keep growing, FIA WEC is clearly the place to be for Audi."
"Audi always used motorsport to improve the road cars and for this purpose the FIA WEC is just perfect."
