The the 2015 Italian GT Championship season has started, round 1 at the Vallelunga circuit near Rome. Audi Sport Italia is taking part in the event with two Audi R8 LMS ultra cars.
Race 1 held this afternoon was a mixed one for the official Audi Italia dealer team. The Emilio Radaelli managed squad pushed hard but that was not enough to challenge for race win.
At the end of the 31-lap race, the best ranked Audi was the #7 R8 LMS ultra in fifth place overall. The car shared by Andrea Amici and Marco Mapelli. The two drivers were among the fastest in the field today.
A harder race for their team-mates at Audi Sport Italia Dindo Capello and Emanuele Zonzini. The two drivers of the #6 Audi R8 LMS ultra narrowly missed the Top 10 and finished the race in position eleven.
Up ahead it was a Ferrari 1-2 victory. Race win went to the #12 Ferrari 458 GT3 from Ombra Racing. Second place went to the #88 Ferrari 458 GT3 from Scuderia Villorba. The #63 Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 from Imperiale Racing took the final spot on the podium.
