Today 'Circuit de Catalunya' in Barcelona hosted the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship media day. It was a crowded event that once again proves the growing interest in this young championship. With just 11 days to go we can hardly wait for the thrilling season opener of 2015 World RX in Montalegre/Portugal!
Anton Marklund and Edward Sandström represented EKS at the media day here in Barcelona. This dynamic duo will also be behind the wheels of our two Audi S1 EKS RX quattro at the second round of the World RX in Hockenheim. The festival of motorsports, with its packed stands and amazing atmosphere, will be a perfect backdrop as we go for our next victory.
Edward looks forward to get back in the RX-saddle: “It's great to be back. Last year was about preparations, now it’s time for final exam. If everything works out I have a great chance to reach the podium”, says Edward. “As a race driver Hockenheim is certainly familiar grounds, but to be back in an RX car will be amazing. It’s also a great opportunity for the sport to reach a new audience.” The 36-year-old Swede keeps #79 from last year, while Anton is easy to spot with his well-known #92.
Team boss Mattias Ekström is confident in his drivers: “Anton’s development is really impressive. The whole team likes him and I believe he has every opportunity to go all the way this season. It’s also comforting to see how well Edward and Anton are getting along. Edward’s experience in motorsport is an asset for Anton and the team and it’s my conviction that he will put on a show for the RX fans.“
