British GT: United Autosports heads to the legendary Nurburgring for the first time.

United Autosports Press Release

The Avon Tyres British GT Championship switches to the high speed Grand Prix circuit of Nürburgring in Germany next weekend (17-19 May) and the United Autosports team is relishing the opportunity.

After a superb start to the opening round which saw the No 23 United Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 on pole for the season opener, only to be denied a win on the final lap because of a fuel pick up issue, and a fifth place finish in the second race from the back of the grid, the team is eager to be in a position to pick up strong results in Germany.

The 3.199 mile track is one of the fastest on the calendar and can be tricky to race at resulting from the rapidly changeable weather.  The circuit has several heavy breaking areas and if conditions are difficult, there will be little room for error. With 28 cars entered there will be an ongoing battle for championship supremacy. Competition will be fierce, with expected challenges from Porsche and BMW.

Matt Bell, Driver, United Autosports:
“I have never raced at the Nürburgring, but I am really looking forward to it. My brother has raced and won there, so I've asked for him for a few pointers as well as getting some valuable time on a simulator at Base Performance. I feel that it is important to prepare as much as possible, the limited testing time makes learning a new track tricky, especially when you’ve got the competition we have in British GT this year.”

Charles Bateman, Driver, United Autosports:
“We will be looking for a strong performance to build on the positive start to the year. It’s a new track for the championship, and we have a large grid for this one, so it should be exciting. I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel, especially on a track with so much history attached to it.”

Richard Dean, Team Owner- Managing Director, United Autosports:
“It seems a long time since Oulton Park and the first round.  We have been desperate to continue the strong pace we had there and can't wait for this race. I am very confident in Audi and the team we have, both Matt and Charles are hungry for the first win of the season having come so close at Oulton Park.”
