DTM: Mattias Ekström wins a chaotic Spielberg race 2

By Tarek Ramchani

Mattias Ekström has won a very chaotic DTM race 2 in Spielberg. The Audi driver started the "long" race from pole position and crossed the finish line victorious. A total of five Audi RS 5 DTM cars inside the top-ten.

It was not an easy event for DTM drivers. The start of the race has been delayed and then the field stayed for several laps behind the Safety Car.

In the closing stages of the race there was a battle of the lead between Mattias Ekström and Mercedes-Benz Gary Paffett.

The Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline driver was able to keep the lead and didn't make any mistake despite a great pressure from the British driver for the ART Grand Prix team.

The podium was completed by another Audi driver, Edoardo Mortara. The Audi Sport Team Abt ace had a very strong DTM weekend in Austria with a race 1 win, a pole position and a podium in race 2.

Mike Rockenfeller (Audi Sport Team Phoenix) had a strong race and was fourth overall. Nico Mueller (Audi Sport Team Rosberg) was fifth. Timo Scheider (Audi Sport Team Phoenix) was fifth.

Miguel Molina (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline) was fourteenth. Adrien Tambay (Audi Sport Team Abt) was seventeenth. Jamie Green (Audi Sport Team Rosberg) had an unlucky race and was eighteenth.

Overall it was an amazing Red Bull Ring round for the Audi brand. Two pole positions and two race wins after all the bad luck at the Norisring and Zandvoort.
