World RX: EKS Audi ready for revenge at Estering

EKS Press Release

EKS is looking forward to an amazing weekend at Estering in Buxtehude. The traditional track in the North of Germany is not only staging the fifth round of FIA World Rallycross Championship. On Friday night before race action starts also Midsommar takes place. It is the second most famous event after Xmas in the Scandinavian countries. For EKS it will be an eventful weekend with a clear aim: Revenge for 2014, when Mattias Ekström was beaten in a breathtaking final by Petter Solberg with a margin of just 0.005 seconds.

“Regarding Estering there are a lot of memories”, Ekström says. “I visited the track for the first time in 1990. My father Bengt won the round in the European Championship. For me it’s a special one, too. In 2013 I made my debut in a SuperCar and the 2014 final is also on the spot. I’ve never had such a close race in my entire career, but this year we go for the big trophy.“

Anton Marklund has recharged batteries after Lydden Hill and is also ready for the EKS revenge. “Estering is a spectacular track and I really like it, even though my results haven’t been so amazing so far. I had a very promising two-day test with the Audi S1 EKS RX quattro in Höljes and now I’m aiming for my first podium in Buxtehude.“
