TUSC: Frustrating 12 Hours of Sebring qualifying for Audi teams
By Tarek Ramchani
The Audi Sport customer racing squad had a frustrating qualifying session at Sebring International Raceway. Flying Lizard Motorsport and Paul Miller Racing worked hard but were not able to challenge for the top spots.
The two Audi teams struggled to match the pace of the front running cars despite having some of the fastest drivers in TUDOR United SportsCar Championship's GT Daytona field. The Audi R8 LMS was clearly disadvantaged compared to the Viper and Porsche GT Americas.
The best ranked Audi car was the #48 car from Paul Miller Racing. Dion von Moltke, Christopher Haase, and Bryce Miller qualified in tenth place within the GT Daytona class with a best time of 2:05.265.
The Flying Lizard Motorsports entry was a position behind in eleventh place in class. The #45 Audi R8 LMS shared by Marco Holzer, Robert Thorne and Colin Thompson with a best time of 2:05.499.
Pole position in GT Daytona went to the #33 Dodge Viper GT3-R. The #23 Porsche 911 GT America was second. Third place went to the #73 Porsche 911 GT America.
