The Audi drivers performed very well in the opening day of the official DTM test at Estoril. Two sessions were held on Wednesday at the Portuguese track with the Audi RS 5 DTM cars topping both of them.
In the morning session it was Mike Rockenfeller who set the fastest time. The 2013 DTM champion set a best time of 1:33.173 behind of the wheel of the #99 RS 5 DTM run by Audi Sport Team Phoenix.
Second place in the session went to another Audi driver. Jamie Green driving the #53 car from Audi Sport Team Rosberg set a personal best time of 1:33.205.
Best of the Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline drivers was Mattias Ekstrom with the #5 car. The double DTM champion took a strong fourth place with a personal best time of 1:33.269. Adrien Tambay was sixth fastest with the #27 Audi RS 5 DTM.and personal best time of 1:33:585.
Later in the afternoon session it was a kind of déjà vu for the Audi squad. The drivers of the Ingolstadt brand were the fastest again.
Jamie Green dominated the field setting the fastest lap time of the day. The Audi Sport Team Rosberg driver with his all orange #54 RS 5 DTM set a storming 1:32.774.
The leader of the morning session Mike Rockenfeller was fourth fastest with a personal best time of 1:33.300. Mattias Ekstrom was a position behind in fifth place and personal best time of 1:33.435. Adrien Tambay ended in eighth place with a personal best time of 1:33.666.
DTM teams and drivers will be back on track on Thursday for the second of the three official test days.
