Young Swiss driver, Nico Müller, joined the Audi Sport family last year. He progressed into the DTM after competing in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series. Nico took part in the demanding Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters with Audi Sport Team Rosberg during 2014.
Nico Müller joined Jamie Green at Audi Sport Team Rosberg for their two-car Audi RS 5 DTM entry. The two drivers replaced Edoardo Mortara who moved to Audi Sport Team Abt and Filipe Albuquerque who switched to the Audi factory LMP1 effort. Nico Müller drove the all-white #22 Audi RS 5 DTM and did well all season long.
As a rookie in the DTM, there were some big challenges waiting for Nico Müller. Adapting with a new car, learning some new tracks and battling against the best drivers representing Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz in what is clearly the best Touring Car field in the world.
In the opening rounds of the 2014 season Nico Müller was always classified in the second half of the table. He was sixteenth in Hocknheim and Oschersleben, twelfth in Budapest, and eighteenth at the Norisring. Not bad for a debut and Müller showed big improvements race after race.
In Russia, Nico Müller scored his best result of the season. In the qualifying session he ended in an impressive third place, the best Audi driver on the grid. A day later he did well in the 46-lap race and took a strong fifth place. The Swiss driver was delighted by his pace and performances at the half way mark of the DTM season. The performances shown in Russia were proof that Audi was right with their decision of counting on Nico Müller with a DTM seat in 2014.
Unfortunately, bad luck didn't spare the Team Rosberg driver. Three straight DNFs hit Nico Müller at the Nürburgring , the Lausitzring and Zandvoort. Back in Hockenheim for the season finale, Müller finished in a promising twelfth place.
At the end of the 2014 DTM season, Nico Müller finished nineteenth overall in the driver's championship standings with a total of 10 points.
In 2015 Nico Müller will be back with Audi behind the wheel of an Audi RS 5 DTM. The young Swiss driver will be eager to fight for the top spots and podiums.
