Blancpain Sprint Series: Six Audi R8 LMS ultra at Circuit Zolder

The Blancpain Sprint Series  is heading to the popular Circuit Zolder this upcoming weekend. The Belgian track will play host to the penultimate round of the 2014 season.

The Audi Sport customer racing squad will be represented by six Audi R8 LMS ultra cars from the two regular teams, Belgian Audi Club Team WRT and Phoenix Racing.

The Vincent Vosse managed team will four cars in their home round. The #1 Audi R8 LMS ultra will be shared by local hero and  new Blancpain Endurance Series champion Laurens Vanthoor joined by Cesar Ramos. The #2 Audi R8 LMS ultra will be driven by 2014 ADAC GT Masters champion René Rast and Belgian driver Enzo Ide. The #4 Audi R8 LMS ultra which competes in the Silver-Cup class will have Vincent Abril and Mateusz Lisowski as drivers. The #7 Audi R8 LMS ultra will have Stéphane Ortelli and Stephane Richelmi behind the wheels.

Belgian Audi Club is second in the Blancpain Sprint Series Cup Team standing with 100 points, 16 points behind the leaders from HTP Motorsport (Mercedes-Benz).


Phoenix Racing will enter a pair of Audi R8 LMS ultra cars. The #5 car will be driven by Marc Basseng and Alessandro Lattif, they will compete in the Pro-Am Trophy. The sister #6 machine will be shared by Markus Winkelhock and Niki Mayr-Melnhof.

Phoenix Racing leads the Pro-Am Trophy teams standing with 127 points.

#2 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT - René Rast / Enzo Ide
#4 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT - Vincent Abril / Mateusz Lisowski (Silver Cup)
#5 Phoenix Racing - Marc Basseng / Alessandro Latif (Gentlemen Trophy)
#6 Phoenix Racing - Niki Mayer-Melnhof / Markus Winkelhock
#7 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT - Stéphane Ortelli / Stephane Richelmi

Action will start on Friday with two practice sessions. The qualifying session and qualifying race will be held on Saturday. Warm-up and the main race are set for Sunday.
