Pirelli World Challenge: Unbelievable bad luck hit Mike Skeen Audi in Utah race 1

Audi driver and Pirelli World Challenge title contender Mike Skeen faced an unbelievable bad luck in yesterday's race 1 in Miller Motorsport Park in Utah. Overall it was a very hard race for the Audi squad with a single R8 LMS ultra within the Top 10.

The Audi driver of the #2 CRP Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra finished down in twenty-third place after a technical issue on his CRP Racing machine. Mike Skeen lost big points in the title battle against Cadillac's Johnny O'Connel, who finished second.

The best ranked Audi R8 LMS ultra was the #21 car from GMG Racing driven by Andrew Palmer in seventh place. Alex Welsch ended in twelfth place driving the #95 Audi R8 LMS ultra from GMG Racing. Jeff Courtney was fifteenth driving the #99 Audi R8 LMS ultra from JCR Motorsport. Brent Holden was sixteenth driving the #44 Audi R8 LMS ultra from GMG Racing.


Overall race victory went to Guy Smith driving the #88 Bentley Continental GT3 from Dyson Racing Team Bentley. Johnny O'Connel was second with the works #3 Cadillac CTS-V.R from Cadillac Racing. Third place to Butch Leitzinger with the #08 Bentley Continental GT3 from Dyson Racing Team Bentley.

Race 2 is set for today, Mike Skeen chances to clinch the title are very slim, the Audi squad will fight for the manufacturers' title against Cadillac, the two brands with 85 points each.
