Blancpain Sprint Series: Victory for Belgian Audi Club Team WRT in Zandvoort main race

A brilliant race win for the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT in the main Blancpain Sprint Series race at Circuit Park Zolder.

Race victory went to the #2 Audi R8 LMS ultra driven by René Rast and Enzo Ide. The two Audi drivers performed very well against strong rivals. The winning Audi was ahead of the second placed #76 BMW Z4 GT3 from BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert and third placed #21 Porsche 997 GT3 R from Tonino Team Herberth.

The two other cars from Belgian Audi Club Team WRT made it into the Top 10. The #4 Audi R8 LMS ultra with youngsters Vincent Abril and Mateusz Lisowski was ninth overall winning again the Silver-Cup Trophy class. The #1 Audi R8 LMS ultra which performed well yesterday faced an unlucky main race, Laurens Vanthoor and Cesar Ramos finished in tenth place.


The two Phoenix Racing Audis were outside the Top 10. The #6 Audi R8 LMS ultra in the hands of Markus Winkelhock and Niki Mayr-Melnhof was eleventh. Their team-mates Marc Basseng and Alessandro Lattif were thirteenth overall and second within the Pro-Am Trophy driving the #5 Audi R8 LMS ultra.

Overall it was a great weekend for the Audi Sport customer racing squad at Zandvoort, with race win in the main race and a podium in the qualifying race. The next stop for the Blancpain Sprint Series will be at the Slovakia Ring, August 22nd-24th.
