Le Mans 24 Hours: Fifth and sixth for Audi in the first qualifying session

After a chaotic free practice session the teams and drivers were back on track for a two-hour qualifying session. As was the case earlier today the first of three qualifying sessions was red flagged in the end after a crash for an Aston Martin Vantage GTE, the driver Fernando Rees is OK
Porsche dominated the field with a 1-2 for their 919 Hybrid cars with #20 car leading the sister #14 machine. The two factory Toyota TS040 Hybrid cars were third (#7 Toyota) and fourth (#8 Toyota).
Best ranked Audi was the #2 Audi R18 e-tron quattro. The car shared by André Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler was fifth fastest with a best time of 3:26.388. The #3 car driven by Oliver Jarvis, Marco Bonanomi and Filipe Albuquerque finished sixth with a best time of 3:26.445.
The teams and drivers will be back on track tomorrow for the final two qualifying sessions.
