GT Asia: Fourth place for Absolute Racing Audi in Korea race 1

By Tarek Ramchani

Korea International Circuit is hosting the opening round of the 2014 GT Asia Series this weekend. Three Audi R8 LMS ultra cars are entering the event, all of them from Absolute Racing.

Race 1 was synonymous of ups and downs for the Asian Audi Sport customer racing team. Two cars finished within the Top 10, the third car was unlucky and was forced to retire.

The Absolute Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra driven by Alex Yoong and Matt Solomon finished fourth overall showing great pace. In the closing stages the Audi battled hard with an Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 for third place but ultimately finished right behind it and narrowly missed the podium.

The Audi of Ken Look and Sun Jing Zu finished in ninth place. The third Absolute Racing entry driven by Jeffrey Lee and Marchy Lee did not finish the race.

Race win went to the Ferrari 458 GT3 from team Spirit of Raceahead of a McLaren MP4-12C from Clearwater Racing.
