Exciting news coming from Belgium. The Belgian Audi Club Team WRT is about to enter the FIA World Endurance Championship with a 2014 Spec Audi R18 e-tron quattro.
The team managed by Vincent Vosse will join the FIA WEC in the second half of the season, starting from round 4 at Circuit of the Americas. The team will miss all three European rounds including Le Mans 24 Hours.
The drivers line-up is made by three very fast Audi works drivers who are familiar with WRT. Laurens Vanthoor, René Rast and Filipe Albuquerque will share the first ever privateer Audi R18 e-tron quattro. Vanthoor and Rast are regular WRT drivers in the Blancpain GT with the Audi R8 LMS ultra. Albuquerque raced with WRT the full 2011 Blancpain Endurance Series season and later selected events.
This is new challenge for a team who won everything in GT racing with Audi. Back to back titles in Blancpain Endurance Series, titles in FIA GT Series, overall wins at Spa 24 Hours and Zolder 24 Hours and many others strong performances.
Audi will have a total of three Audi R18 e-tron quattro cars, Audi Sport Team Joest already fielding two full factory cars.
If you have read this far, let us remind you, that it is indeed the first day of April.
