The annual ACO press conference was held in Paris on Thursday. The
entry lists for the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship, the Le Mans 24 Hours and the
European Le Mans Series were all revealed on the day. Audi cars will again be
seen in both the FIA WEC and ELMS this year.
Audi Sport had already announced its 2014 entry last
week, but now it has officially been confirmed for the 2014 season, with the
release of the entry lists. Two Audi R18 e-tron quattro cars will be
contesting the entire FIA World Endurance Championship season and a third car
will be entered for the 6 Hours of Spa and the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The Audi squad joins a field of thirty-one FIA WEC
entries, nine of which are LMP1 competitors. The full season LMP1 runners
include six factory cars in LMP1-H and three privateer cars in LMP1-L.

A few weeks ago Sébastien Loeb Racing announced that
they will be running Audi R8 LMS ultra cars this year and last week they
confirmed a two-car entry in the French GT Tour. They will be running two cars
in the 2014 ELMS, which includes one of their Audi R8 LMS ultra cars, alongside
an Oreca 03 – Nissan in LMP2.
A total of forty-two entries will be taking part in
the 2014 ELMS, sixteen of which are entered in GTC.

PK Carsport will be returning to the Belgian Racing
Car Championship (BRCC) with Audi in 2014. They won the 2013 Endurance title
with Anthony Kumpen, Bert Longin and Martin Makelberge behind the wheel of an
Audi R8 LMS.
For PK Carsport it was a victorious return, after having taken a break for a number of seasons. The driving duo of
Anthony Kumpen and Bert Longin will be joined by Frank Beliën for PK Carsport’s
2014 entry.
The team will be fielding the Audi R8 LMS from MOMO
Megatron DF1, which was used in the 2014 ELMS. PK Carsport’s ex-Team Rosberg
Audi R8 LMS, which won the 2013 BRCC Endurance title, is currently for sale. Both of the cars were seen testing at Zolder two weeks ago.
The official BRCC test and press day will be taking
place at Zolder on 20 March, followed by the first round at the Zolder New Race
Festival from 26-27 April.
ABT Sportsline have committed to the first season of
the new FIA Formula E Championship. They will be competing with the team name
of ‘Audi Sport ABT Formula-E Team.’ They announced their driver line-up on
Thursday, which includes factory Audi driver, Lucas di Grassi, and Daniel Abt.
Audi Sport Italia is one of six teams who have
committed to the new EuroV8 Series, which is replacing the Superstars Series.
Audi Sport Italia will be returning with their Audi RS 5 quattro cars, the
vehicles which have dominated the Superstars Series for the previous two
seasons. The number of entered cars and the driver line-up is yet to be
announced.
Two sets of BTCC test days were held this week at Oulton Park
and Donington. Rob Austin Racing attended both test sessions. Rob Austin was
behind the wheel of their all-black Audi A4 NGTC car.
An Audi R18 e-tron quattro was on display at the 2014
Auto Expo show in India .
The motor show was held from 7-11 February.
The 2013 Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup champion, young
South African Kelvin van der Linde, has been signed with Prosperia C.ABT
Racing. He will be driving one of the team’s three Audi R8 LMS ultra cars in
the 2014 ADAC GT Masters season. He will be driving the car alongside teammate, Nikki
Thiim.
VMP Motorsport was at Zwartkops on Thursday, their
first track test of the year ahead of the 2014 Bridgestone Production Cars Championship. Gennaro Bonafede was behind the wheel of the plain white Audi S4.
Audi
Sport Italia completed the build of their fourth Audi RS 5 quattro race car
this week. The car had its roll out and shake down at Adria Raceway. Thomas
Schöffler was on hand to drive the new RS 5. Audi Sport Italia also had a
second RS 5 quattro at the test, which was driven by a number potential drivers
interested in the 2014 EuroV8 Series.
MTM
Motorsport has broken the Sachsenring lap record for road legal cars. Their Audi
R8 LMS, which has 606 hp and is converted for road use, clocked a time of 1:29.89.
Bild Sporstscars test driver, Guido Naumann, was behind the wheel of the R8
LMS. The car was fitted with MICHELIN Sport Cup tyres.
