Audi at Design Miami/ 2013

Audi Press Release

  •          Installation “Fragmentation” made of red rhombus shapes as an homage to Audi Sport
  •          R8 Spyder and R8 LMS ultra on the stand
  •          Audi automotive sponsor of this renowned design exhibition since 2006

Audi’s presence at Design Miami/ from December 3rd to 8th will be dominated by Audi Sport and will feature two of its sportiest models: the production model R8 Spyder and the R8 LMS ultra for customer racing. The Audi sculpture entitled “Fragmentation” serves as the backdrop. This three-dimensional installation plays with the red rhombus, the symbol of Audi Sport.

Audi has been the exclusive automotive sponsor of Design Miami/ since 2006. Audi is not only playing the classic role of sponsor there, but is also actively appearing as an exhibitor and as a source of inspiration that seeks creative dialogue. Time and again, the company has linked technology with design and has developed installations with international designers and architects such as Moritz Waldemeyer, Mirko Borsche, Bjarke Ingels, Clemens Weisshaar and Reed Kram.

This year an installation decorates the two supercars R8 V10 Spyder and R8 LMS ultra at Design Miami/. The sculpture is made up of numerous red rhombus shapes and offers observers a new perspective from every angle. The red rhombus stands for high performance, technical precision and outstanding design – both in series production and in motorsport. Audi launched its involvement in customer racing in 2009 and has been developing race cars such as the R8 LMS ultra for its enthusiastic racing clientele since then. What many don’t know is that the high-performance R8 Spyder, the sporty vanguard among Audi’s production models, strongly resembles its counterpart from professional racing. More than 50 percent of both cars is made up of shared parts.

Design Miami/ takes place from December 3rd to 8th in Miami Beach and is an important forum for design. Each year the exhibition brings together influential collectors, gallery owners, designers, curators and critics from all over the world.
