Audi Sport Italia is at Monza this weekend. The official Audi Italia dealer team is racing the season finale of the Italian GT Championship with a pair of Audi R8 LMS ultra cars.
In the qualifying sessions the #4 Audi R8 LMS ultra of Dindo Capello and Andrea Sonvico ended in ninth place (Race 1) and eighth place (Race 2). The sister #5 car of Alex Frassineti and Johan Kristoffersson did better qualifying in fourth (Race 1) and third (Race 2).
Race 1 later this afternoon was a frustrating one for the Audi team. Best ranked car was the #5 Audi R8 LMS ultra of Alex Frassineti and Johan Kristoffersson. The two drivers ended in fifth place, 35 seconds behind the race winning car.
Dindo Capello and Andrea Sonvico in the #4 Audi R8 LMS ultra had a much a harder race. Bad luck hit their Audi with a tire puncture. They finished in a disappointing tenth place, a lap down to the leaders.
Up ahead, it was an all Porsche affair. Race victory went to the #44 Porsche 997 GT3 R from Ebimotors. Second the #77 Porsche 997 GT3 R from Antonelli Motorsport. Third the #43 Porsche 997 GT3 from Tonino Motorsport.
