FIA GT: The Belgian Audi Club Team WRT will enter fourth car at Baku finale

Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Press Release

The Belgian Audi Club today announced it will enter a fourth Audi R8 LMS ultra in the closing round of the FIA GT Series to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan next 22-24 November.
The car will be entrusted to Portugal’s Filipe Albuquerque (28), who has already raced for Team WRT in 2011 and 2012, and to France’s Grégoire Demoustier (22), who will debut with the team at this occasion.

Demoustier and Albuquerque will join efforts with the squad’s regular line-ups: Ortelli-Vanthoor, Sandström-Stippler and Mayr-Melnhof-Rast. The fourth car is aimed at enhancing this stellar event, which will bring a FIA championship to the urban track of Baku for the first time.

The squad’s objective for this last race of the FIA GT Series will be to secure the Teams’ title for the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT, which currently enjoys a 28-point lead in the overall standings. The Azerbaijan race will also be decisive for the Drivers’ title, which cannot escape Team WRT, as the only three contenders left are Ortelli-Vanthoor, Sandström-Stippler and Mayr-Melnhof.

Team WRT Principal Vincent Vosse explains: “Baku will be a very special event, which will bring Azerbaijan and the whole region into the map of international motorsports. The organizers and local authorities are doing a great effort to have a memorable event, and entering an additional car is a way to stress its importance and further contribute to the show. I am very happy to have Albuquerque and Demoustier with us. We know Filipe well, of course, as he has raced for us in the past, and he is a popular figure within the team, and we will be delighted to welcome Grégoire. He has shown very good things in GT racing, driving other brands’ cars and he tested with us some time ago. The feedback was very positive, we stayed in contact, and I am happy that the opportunity to work together has now arisen.”
