Actions started at Austin in FIA WEC. The first free practice session already held today with Audi leading Toyota.
The FIA WEC teams faced new conditions compared to yesterday's sunny weather in the pre-event test sessions. It was a very wet 90-minute session today at Circuit of the Americas. As was the case yesterday, Audi Sport Team Joest ended the session with a fine 1-2 with their factory Audi R18 e-tron quattro cars. The #2 car of Allan McNish, Loic Duval and Tom Kristensen was the quickest of the field with a fastest lap time of 2:03.749. The sister #1 Audi driven by André Lotterer, Benoit Tréluyer and Marcel Fassler was second, 0.7s behind their team-mates. The lone Toyota Hybrid was third, followed by the privateer entry from Rebellion Racing.
A second 90-minute free practice session is coming next at the Texan track.
