The FIA World Endurance Championship resumes in Brazil this weekend. It is back to the usual 6-hour race format in this fourth round of the season, following the Le Mans 24 Hours, which was round three.
At São Paulo only four LMP1 cars have been entered. Two Audi R18 e-tron quattro cars from Audi Sport Team Joest, a single Toyota TS030 Hybrid from Toyota Racing and the #12 Lola Coupe Toyota from Rebellion Racing.
The first practice session has already been held today, and saw the #7 TMG run TS030 Hybrid leading the two factory Audi R18s. The car shared by Anthony Davidson, Sébastien Buemi and Stéphane Sarrazin set the fastest time of 1:21.881. In second place was the #1 Audi of the reining FIA WEC champions, André Lotterer, Benoit Trelluyer and Marcel Fassler. They were 0.808 seconds behind the leading car. In third was the sister #2 Audi of Allan McNish, Loic Duval and Tom Kristensen. Fourth was the lone car from Rebellion racing, driven by Nicolas Prost, Nick Heidfeld and Mathias Beche.
The second free practice session will take place later at 15h40 local time.
