By Johan Laubscher

The ADAC GT Masters resumed for the fourth round held at the Nürburgring. Six Audi R8 LMS ultra cars were entered from three different teams, with a podium finish highlighting the weekend’s results.

Prosperia C.ABT Racing again entered their three-car team with their regular driver line-ups of: Rahel Frey and Christopher Haase in the #26, Christopher Mies and René Rast in the #27 and Christer Jöns and Markus Winkelhock in the #28. MS Racing was present with their regular two-car team, but with a new look. The #100 R8 LMS ultra of Daniel Dobitsch and Aditya Patel remained in its usual orange livery, but the #1 of Sebastian Asch and Florian Stoll featured a new red and black livery. The third and final Audi team in the ADAC GT Masters is YACO Racing who fielded the #16 R8 LMS ultra for  Philip Geipel and Frank Schmickler this weekend.

Qualifying for the first race only had one Audi within the top ten, the #28 R8 LMS ultra in sixth place, followed by all of the Audis inside of the top twenty. The grid for the second race saw no Audis inside of the top ten, but the three Prosperia C.ABT Racing were together in positions twelve to fourteen, with the #28 leading #26 and #27.

Race one ended with an excellent podium result for Prosperia C.ABT Racing. The #28 of Winkelhock and Jöns capitalised on their top ten starting position and finished the race on the podium in second position. The top ten was rounded out by the #27 Audi in tenth, followed by #26 in twelfth, the MS Racing cars in fourteenth and fifteenth (#1 and #100) and the YACO Racing #16 R8 LMS ultra in twenty-second. The first race was won by the #10 Polarweiss Racing Mercedezs-Benz SLS.

Race two saw the Audis hovering outside of the top ten during the first half of the race and ultimately two penetrated the top ten by the finish. The leading Audi was the #1 MS Racing R8 of Sebastian Asch and Florian Stoll who finished eighth. The second Audi inside the top ten was the #28 in ninth. They were followed by the #16 YACO R8 in eleventh and the #100 MS Racing car in thirteenth. Unfortunately the #26 and #27 Audis were not classified at the finish. The second race was won by the #19 Team Schubert BMW Z4 GT3.
