The R16 codename was given to the homologation of the Audi race cars
based on the Audi R8 road car. The first R16 was the Audi R8 LMS which debuted
in 2009. For 2012 Audi launched the second and third versions of this homolgation,
the Audi R8 LMS ultra (GT3 specification) and the Audi R8 GRAND-AM (Grand-AM GT
