The annual Le Mans Classic event hosts a very special auction. The
auction is run by Artcurial and always includes very special Le Mans memorabilia
and actual race cars. The 2012 edition was no different and the auction held on
7 July 2012 had a very special Audi race car. The car that was set to go under
the hammer was a 2007 Audi R10 TDI. Specifically this R10 TDI is chassis #201
which twice raced at Le Mans and won the 2008 LMS championship. Audi Motorsport Blog published the original story last week, which you can read HERE.
The R10 which was entered in auction lot number 187 had an estimated auction price of
1300000 to 1600000 Euros. The car has been reported as unsold on the auction
website results, due to the car not reaching its reserve
price. It did exceed 1100000 Euros on the stand but this was still bellow the intended reserve. So this means there is at least one Audi R10 TDI that is still for sale
on the market. A unique opportunity to own the only Audi R10 TDI in private
hands, a very special piece of Audi and Le Mans history.
