Audi Sport Club Italia has a display at the Auto e Moto D'epoca show in
Italy this weekend. Their display includes a very special tribute to one of
Audi’s legendary race drivers.
The Audi A4 STW, the Super Touring car version of the B5 Audi A4, was a
brilliant race car. Its quattro system and superior traction made it one of the
best cars of its time, highlighted by an international championship sweep in
1996, when Audi claimed the title in seven countries: Germany, Britain, Italy, Australia,
Belgium, South Africa and Spain.
Austria hosted the Bergrallye at Pöllauberg last weekend. A number of Audi quattro cars took part in the event, with some great results. The famous Audi A4 quattro STW of Andreas Marko not only won its class, but also won overall against much faster cars.

titles in the sport. The WEC Silverstone winners will receive the 2013 RAC Tourist
Trophy. The prestigious award is a 108 years old and will be awarded to the
race winners on April 14th 2013.
Two Audi R18 e-tron quattros will take part at the opening WEC event.
This will be the first time in 16 years that an Audi and quattro will compete
in the Tourist Trophy. The brand was last seen in the event in 1996 and 1997
with the Audi A4 quattro STW Super Touring cars.
Below we have included an embedded YouTube video featuring the 1997 RAC Tourist
Trophy. The Super Touring Cars took part in this historical event that year. The
event was the scene for the last ever official quattro race in British Super
Touring. Four-wheel drive was banned in Super Touring at the beginning of 1998,
forcing the 1998 BTCC Audis to be front-wheel drive. The 1997 race saw five Audis entered. Two A4 quattro STW's each from Audi Sport UK and ABT Sportsline. The fifth car was the #18 Audi Sport UK entry which was the debut of the front-wheel drive Audi A4 STW in Britain. It is a fantastic video
with spectacular Super Touring action. Enjoy:
The streets of Macau are famous for hosting the prestigious Grand Prix
of Macau. The Audi R8 LMS ultra will debut at Macau this year looking to
defend the GT Cup title. Edoardo Mortara was victorious at the 2011 Macau GT
Cup in his #66 Audi R8 LMS from Absolute Racing. The victory marked the third
event victory at Macau for an Audi. Various Audis have entered events at Macau
in the last two decades. We have included a brief history of the four rings at
Macau below.
Macau 1993
The famous Macau Guia Race (touring car event) was the scene for the first four Audi appearances. The first Audi to take to the streets at Macau was an
Audi V8 DTM entered by a Belgian team in 1993, driven by Bernard Winderickx.
Macau 1996
Following the debut in 1993
there were entries of Audi A4 STW teams at Macau in 1996, 1998 and 1999. 1996
saw Frank Biela take the overall victory ahead of Brad Jones from Australia for an Audi 1-2 overall finish.
Macau 1998
After
missing the 1997 event, Audis returned to the streets in 1998 with the
Australian Audi team consisting of Brad Jones and Frank Biela. Jones achieved a third place overall finish.
Macau 1999
The 1999 Macau
Guia race had the most Audis ever entered. A total of four Audis were entered
by Phoenix Racing and Mayer Motorsport. It was a dominant display as Michael
Bartels stormed to the second Audi victory at Macau.
Macau 2010
After the 1999 victory the Audi brand would not be seen at Macau for
over a decade. The drought finally came to an end with the introduction of the
Audi R8 LMS in 2009. At the end of 2010 the FIA GT3 specification racer from
Audi made its Macau debut with United Autosports and Absolute Racing. The cars were competing
in the Macau GT Cup. It was a successful debut with two podium places.
Macau 2011
In 2011 the victory was the clear goal, and Mr
Macau, Edoardo Mortara, did not disappoint. Absolute Racing and Mortara were untouchable
on their way to victory. Along with the victorious #66 Audi R8 LMS two more
Audi entries came from United Autosports and Hitotsuyama Racing.
Macau 2012
The entry list for the 2012 Macau GT Cup includes the GT Asia competitors. There will be three Audis on the grid. Two Audi R8 LMS ultra cars from the Audi R8 LMS Cup team have been entered, which includes Edoardo Mortara. The third Audi R8 LMS ultra is the Team Hong Kong Racing entry of Phillip Ma. The 59th running of the Macau Grand Prix is set for 18 November 2012.
Below are videos from all the above mentioned Macau events where Audis have been entered.

By Tarek Ramchani The Austrian Hillclimb Championship season finale was held at the Arzberg Hillcimb last weekend. Three exotic Audis entered the meeting and did very well. The famous Audi A4 quattro STW of Andreas Marko won the demanding 2000cc class. Karl Werner was the driver of #11 Audi S2 R quattro and finished fourth in the top upper 2000cc AWD class. The third Audi was the #956 Audi 80 quattro of Aigner Franz, he was victorious in the special E1,E2-SH class.
Our friends at Race-Action.com were at the event and provided great coverage with some beautiful photos of the Audi racers. More information: Bergrallye website Race-action.com website
Andreas Marko and his successful Audi A4 quattro STW raced a home event last weekend in Austria. The St. Agatha Hillclimb event. The #130 quattro B5 did very well finishing third in the 2000cc class with a time of 02:39.981. Here is nice footage from the Austrian meeting.
A tasteful selection of silver and red colours combine to form what is a very special looking T-Shirt. Add to that the fact of four legendary Audi race cars, and then you have an outstanding T-Shirt. The T-Shirt is being offered by 8380 Laboratories and we found it via the Motorsort Retro Facebook page.
The Image looks stunning as it combines the Audi V8 DTM, Audi A4 STW, Audi A4 DTM R11 and the Audi R10 TDI. It also includes a nice spin on Audi’s slogan as the T-Shirt states: Vorsprung Durch RennSport, we cannot agree more.
Marko Racing Team returned to the hills of Austria last weekend. After an accident earlier in the year the Audi A4 STW was rebuilt and ready to race with a new livery. Andreas Marko made it a victorious return to the Austrian Hillclimb Series as he raced his Audi A4 to a class victory at the Voitsberg Hillclimb. Thanks to Race-Action.com for the great photos.
Knockhill hosted the annual Scottish BTCC round this past weekend. The track held a very special twenty years of BTCC anniversary. Amoungst the legendary machines at the track was the Audi A4 STW which was driven by Audi legend, Frank Biela, during the 1997 BTCC season.
It is very special that this Audi A4 is included in the anniversary celebrations as the quattro technology is very much a part of Knockhill’s history. It debuted in 1996 and provided Audi Sport UK with a 1-2 finish. The final appearance of the four wheel drive technology came in 1997 when the Audis achieved a double 1-2 finish on the day. Quattro was perfectly suited to the short twisty nature of the Knockhill circuit and held the lap record for quite some time.
Below are some great photos from the BTCC anniversary along with the race footage from 1996 and 1997. Enjoy viewing these beautiful Audi race cars again in these photos and videos.
